Sikhism·Raag Kaanraa·Shabad 18
Verse 4 of 5

The Veil Lifted

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਪਰਦਾ ਲਾਹਿਓ ॥੩॥
ot pot mili-o bhagtan ka-o jan si-o pardaa laahi-o. ||3||
You are united with Your devotees, through and through; You have removed Your veil for Your humble servants. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are woven into Your devotees through and through, like thread through cloth. For Your humble servants, You have taken the veil away.

The One woven through you lifts every veil for a loving heart.
The deeper layer

The One beyond all reach is woven through those who love, and the veil between them lifts.

Ot pot: warp and weft, the threads that run both ways through cloth. Jan si-o pardaa laahi-o: the veil is removed for the One's servants. The vast One of the previous line is closer than close for those who love. The distance was only a veil, and it lifts.

A Question to Sit With

What helps a wall between you and someone you love come down?
