The Healing Medicine

ਕਾਟੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਖਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
kaatay rog bha-ay man nirmal har har a-ukhaDh khaa-i-o. ||2||
The disease has been eradicated, and my mind has become immaculate. I have taken the healing medicine of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My sickness is cut away, and my mind has become spotless. I have taken the healing medicine of the One, Har, Har.

The heart's unrest is a sickness to be healed, and remembrance is the medicine.
The deeper layer

The heart's unrest is like an illness, and the Naam is the medicine that heals it.

The verse says kaatay rog bha-ay man nirmal: "the disease is cut away, and the mind becomes spotless." Rog means sickness. Nirmal means clean, without a stain.

Then: har har a-ukhaDh khaa-i-o, "I have taken the medicine of the Lord." The word a-ukhaDh means medicine.

Here ego and its restlessness are treated like a sickness to be healed. When someone catches the flu, you give them the right medicine and help them rest. The Naam is that medicine. Taken every day, it clears the heart.
