Gazing upon and beholding my Best Friend, I blossom forth in bliss; my God is the One and Only. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Gazing and gazing on my dearest Friend, I blossom with joy. My Lord is my very own, the One and only.
The nearness of a true Friend makes the heart open like a flower.
Just seeing the One, your dearest Friend, makes your heart open like a flower.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Paykh paykh bigsaa-o saajan: gazing and gazing on my Friend, I blossom. Bigsaa is a flower opening in the sun. Parabh aapnaa ikaant: my Lord, my very own, the One and only. The One here is close and dear, a friend whose presence makes the heart open.
