Light In The Dark House

ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਧਰਉ ਮਾਥੈ ਚਾਂਦਨਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਅੰਧੇਰੈ ॥੨॥
sant charan Dhara-o maathai chaaNdnaa garihi ho-ay anDhayrai. ||2||
Touch your forehead to the feet of the Saints, and your dark household shall be illumined. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Touch your forehead to the feet of the holy ones, and light fills your dark house.

Humility lets light into the rooms of the heart that had gone dark.
The deeper layer

Bowing low to holy people lets light into a dark house.

Sant charan Dhara-o maathai: touch the forehead to the feet of the saints, a gesture of humble love. Chaandnaa garihi ho-ay anDhayrai: light comes to the dark house. The dark house is a mind clouded by confusion. Humility, and the nearness of holy people, let the light in.

A Question to Sit With

What helps bring light back when you are having a heavy day?
