They take Your Support and place their faith in You, O my Lord and Master; they seek Your Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Your saints have beaten the whole army of wrong wants that marches inside.

They lean on You and put their trust in You, O my Lord and Master. They come to You for shelter.

The hardest battles are inner ones, and they are won by leaning on something larger.
The deeper layer

The hardest battle is the one inside you, and it is won by leaning on the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Bikhai dal santan tumrai gaahi-o: Your saints have trampled the army of wrong wants. Tumree tayk bharosaa thaakur: Your support, my faith, O Master. Saran tumaaree aahi-o: they seek Your shelter.

Think of a child who is scared of the dark. Holding a parent's hand, the fear grows quiet. The saints win the same way: by leaning.

A Question to Sit With

What inner struggle feels easier when you lean on someone you trust?
