Taking them by the hand, O Nanak, God saves His humble servants; they shall not perish in the deep, dark world-ocean. ||2||10||29||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have taken shelter in my Perfect Lord, who lasts forever and never dies. I do not bother trying anything else.

Nanak says: the One takes His humble servants by the hand and saves them. They will not die in the deep, dark ocean of the world.

A hand that holds you means you will not be lost, even in dark waters.
The deeper layer

Taking shelter in the One who never fades, you are held by the hand and kept from drowning.

Saran gahee pooran abhinaasee: shelter in the perfect, undying One. Aan upaav thakit nahee karsan: no more tiring myself out with other fixes. Kar geh lee-ay naanak jan apnay: the One takes His own by the hand. AnDh ghor saagar nahee marsan: they do not die in the deep, dark sea. Held, and kept from sinking.

A Question to Sit With

Whose hand makes you feel safe no matter what?
