Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I gaze on the face of the Lord, lovely as a lotus.
Searching and searching, I have found the jewel, and all my worry is gone.
What we search for everywhere is often the thing that finally quiets all our worry.
After long searching, the jewel is found, and every worry is forgotten.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Aviloka-o raam ko mukhaarbind: I gaze on the lotus face of Raam, the One. Khojat khojat ratan paa-i-o: searching and searching, I found the jewel. Bisree sabh chind: all worry forgotten.
Think of looking all over the house for something precious and finding it at last. Your shoulders drop and you can breathe again.
