In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

He came to me Himself, in His own natural, easy way.

I know nothing, and I show nothing.

With a simple, childlike heart I met the One, and He gave me peace.

An open, unpretending heart is exactly what the One meets.
The deeper layer

The One comes in His own easy way, and a simple, open heart meets Him in peace.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

Sahj subhaa-ay aapan aa-ay: He came on His own, in natural ease. Sahj is the calm of a heart that has stopped straining. Kachhoo na jaanou kachhoo dikhaa-ay: I know nothing, and I show nothing. Baalay bholay: like a small, innocent child.

Picture a little child running to hug someone they love, with no plan and nothing to prove.

A Question to Sit With

When has being simple and honest worked better than trying to look clever?
