I Bring You All My Wishes

ਮਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਤਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਧਨੁ ਲਖਮੀ ਸੁਤ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥
maan maaNga-o taan maaNga-o Dhan lakhmee sut dayh. ||1||
I beg for honor, I beg for strength; please bless me with wealth, property and children. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I ask You for honor, and I ask You for strength. Please give me wealth, plenty, and children.

It is okay to bring all your hopes to the One you trust.
The deeper layer

You can bring all your wishes to the One, the big ones and the small ones.

Maan maanga-o taan maanga-o: I ask for honor, I ask for strength. Dhan lakhmee sut dayh: give me wealth, plenty and children. Lakhmee stands for riches and good fortune. A best friend is someone you can ask for anything. Think of a child's long birthday wish list. The asking is honest, and the friend listens.

A Question to Sit With

What hopes would you share with a friend who listens closely?
