Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are the way to freedom and the way to do well in the world. You are the perfect One of highest joy, the greatest treasure.

Nanak says: in awe and loving devotion I glow with joy, and I give myself to You, forever and ever.

The One who gives is the greatest gift of all.
The deeper layer

The One is the freedom, the way and the joy, a treasure greater than any gift.

Mukat jugat bhugat: freedom, the way, and the good things of life. Pooran parmaanand param niDhaan: perfect, highest joy, the greatest treasure. Bhai bhaa-ay bhagat: bhai is awe, the hushed wonder you feel looking up at a sky full of stars, and bhaa-ay bhagat is loving devotion. Nihaal means glowing with happiness. Kurbaan means giving yourself completely, out of love.

A Question to Sit With

When has the giver mattered more to you than the gift?
