Nothing Else Tastes The Same

bhagat janaaN kee khin khin lochaa naam japat sukh paavaigo.
Each and every instant, the humble devotees long for Him; chanting the Naam, they find peace.
an ras saad ga-ay sabh neekar bin naavai kichh na sukhaavaigo. ||1||
The taste of other pleasures is totally eradicated; nothing pleases them, except the Name. ||1||

In plain words

Every single moment, the One's devotees long for the One. Saying the Naam, they find peace.

The taste of every other pleasure is gone. Without the Naam, nothing pleases them.

When the heart finds its deepest joy, smaller cravings quietly fade.
The deeper layer

Once the heart tastes the best joy, smaller cravings quietly lose their pull.

Khin khin lochaa: a longing in every single moment. The people who love the One keep wanting to be near. An ras saad ga-ay: the taste for other things fades away.

Nothing is given up by force here. Something better is found. Think of a kid who used to love plain crackers, then tastes Grandma's fresh parathas. The crackers do not need to be banned. They just stop calling.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever loved something so much that other things stopped mattering as much?
