The True Guru, the Great Primal Being, is the philosopher's stone. Whoever is attached to Him receives fruitful rewards.

Just as Prahlaad was saved by the Guru's Teachings, the Guru protects the honor of His servant. ||1||

In plain words

The True Guru, the Great Being, is the philosopher's stone. Whoever holds on to the Guru receives the fruit.

Prahlaad was saved by following the Guru's teaching. In the same way, the Guru keeps the honor of the one who serves.

Hold on to the Guru, and the Guru looks after your honor.
The deeper layer

Hold on to the Guru, and you receive the fruit, and the Guru looks after you.

Mahaa purakh: the Great Being. Jo laagai so fal paavaigo: whoever holds on receives the fruit. Par-hilaadaa: Prahlaad, a boy in an old Indian story who kept remembering the One even when his own father, a proud king, tried to stop him, and who was kept safe. Paij: honor, a good name. Gur sayvak paij rakhaavaigo: the Guru guards the honor of those who serve.

A Question to Sit With
