Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The holy ones meet together and remember the One every day. With love and delight, they sing the praises of their Master.
Singing those praises, they live. They drink the nectar of the One, and the round of birth and death is over for them.
Finding the Sangat and remembering the One, pain never touches you again. By the kindness of the Giver, the Maker of all, we serve the saints.
Nanak prays: I long for the dust of the feet of the humble. With ease, I melt into the sight of the One.
Singing the One's praises together brings you alive, and pain loosens its hold.
Rasak rasak su-aamee gun gaa-in: "with love and delight, they sing the Master's praises." Rasak means tasting with joy, like savoring your favorite food.
Then: har ami-o peevah, "they drink the Lord's nectar." Ami-o means nectar, the sweetest drink. Singing together feels like that.
The verse ends with sahj samaa-in: they melt into sahj. Sahj means the natural ease of a heart at peace, like breathing when you are not even trying.
Think of a family singing in the car on a long drive. No one is worried about the traffic. The song fills the car with warmth. This verse glows like that.
When has singing or celebrating together made you feel fully alive?
