All you beings, remember the Lord of the World. That holds all the worth of chanting, deep meditation, hard discipline and perfect service.
Remember your Master every day, the One who knows every heart from inside. Then your whole life bears fruit.
Sing of the Lord of the Universe and remember the One every day. Then your coming into the world is welcomed and blessed.
The pure One, Har, Har, is itself your chanting, your meditation and your discipline. Only the wealth of the Lord of the Universe goes along with you in the end.
Nanak prays: be kind, and give me the jewel of the One, so I can tie it in my pocket and keep it with me.
Remembering the One holds the worth of every discipline, and it is the one wealth that goes along with you.
It calls the One antarjaamee, "the knower of hearts." Think of a best friend who knows how you feel before you say a word. The One knows every heart like that.
Then comes a key line: gobind Dhan sang chaalai, "the wealth of the Lord of the world goes along with you." Dhan means wealth. Toys, phones and money stay behind someday. But remembering the One is a treasure we keep.
At the end, Nanak asks for har ratan, the Lord's jewel, to carry close. Ratan means jewel. It is like a small precious stone you keep in your pocket, and touch now and then to remember it is there.
If you could keep just one treasure forever, what would you want it to be?
