In plain words

The Name of the One is the greatest treasure; those who turn toward the Guru find it.

The True Guru comes to meet those whose foreheads carried this from the very start.

Their body and mind grow cool and calm, and peace comes to live in their hearts.

Nanak says: saying the Name of the One, all want and all pain lift away.

The Name brings a cool, quiet calm that comes to stay.
The deeper layer

The Naam is a treasure that cools the body and settles the mind.

Naam niDhaan: the Name as treasure. Gurmukh means someone whose face is turned toward the Guru. Tan man seetal: body and mind become cool, like stepping into shade on a hot afternoon. Saant vasee man aa-ay: peace comes and makes its home in the mind.

Daalad is want, the feeling of never having enough, and dukh is pain. Saying the Name, both leh jaa-ay, lift off and leave.

A Question to Sit With
