In plain words

I give myself, forever and ever, to those who have seen my beloved True Guru.

My True Guru meets those whose foreheads carried this from the very start.

Through the Guru's teaching I remember the One beyond reach; the One has no shape and no outline.

Those who remember the unreachable One through the Guru's word become one with their Master — servant and Master blended together.

So let everyone say it aloud: Nar Narhar, Nar Narhar, Nar Narhar, the One! Loving devotion to the One is the finest gain of all.

In love, the servant and the One served become one.
The deeper layer

Whoever remembers the One through the Guru's word becomes one with the One.

Ha-o vaari-aa: I give myself, a way of saying "I love you so much I would give anything." Roop nahee rekhi-aa: the One has no shape or outline. Thaakur sayvak ral ayki-aa: the Master and the servant blend together and become one, like a drop of rain falling into the sea.

Narhar is one of the old names for the One. Har laahaa is the gain, the profit. In a market people count what they earn. Here the best thing you can earn in a life is bhagat, loving devotion to the One.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt so close to someone that “you” and “me” almost disappeared?
