Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The boundless One fills the water, the land and the sky.

The One cares for every living creature; whatever the One does comes to be.

Without the One, we have no mother, father, child, brother or sister, or friend.

The One lives deep within each and every heart; let everyone remember the One.

Let all sing the goodness of the Lord of the World, who shines out plainly all over the world.

The One fills sky, land, and sea — and is the love inside everyone you love.
The deeper layer

The One fills everything and cares for every creature.

Jal thal mahee-al: water, land and sky, everywhere at once. Pratipaaldaa means caring for and feeding, the way a gardener looks after every plant. Maat pitaa sut bhraat meet: mother, father, child, brother, friend. Without the One, none of them would be there; the One is behind every love we have.

Gopaal means the Lord of the World. Pargat sabh lo-ee: shining out plainly across the whole world, hidden in plain sight.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you see the same caring showing up in all the people who love you?
