In plain words

Some sing, some listen, and some speak it aloud for others to hear.

The dirt of many lifetimes washes away, and the heart's wishes come true.

Singing the goodness of the One, the coming and going comes to an end.

They cross over themselves, carry their companions across, and bring their whole family across too.

Nanak says: I give myself to those who are pleasing to my Beloved, the One.

No one is carried home alone — the singer brings everyone along.
The deeper layer

No one is carried home alone. When one person sings the Name, everyone near them is lifted too.

Ko-ee gaavai ko sunai: some sing, some listen, and some speak it aloud for others. Think of a campfire song. One person plays, another sings, others listen and clap. Everyone is part of the song. Here the verse gathers the whole Vaar, a long song of many verses, into that one shared circle.

Singing the good qualities of the One washes away old dust and ends the endless coming and going. Then the blessing widens: aap tareh sangee taraahi, "they cross over, and carry their companions across." Their whole family is carried along too.

The very last word is suDh. It means "checked and correct." It is like a stamp at the bottom of a page, saying this Vaar is complete and true.

A Question to Sit With

Who would you most want to bring along with you toward something good?
