Nanak, the orphan, has come seeking the Sanctuary of God's Feet; O Lord, he walks with You. ||2||6||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One reaches out and takes me by the arm, and my small light melts into the great Light like a candle flame returning to the sun.

I came with nothing and no one, and found a home; now, wherever I go, I am walking with You.

When you have nothing to hold onto, you can still walk hand in hand with the One.
The deeper layer

Jot joti ralee — light merging into Light — is Gurbani's classic image of union, the drop returning to the ocean. Anaath means orphan or one without a protector; rather than self-pity it is read here as honest empty-handedness, the open hands that grace can fill. Har sang chalee: the soul now walks with the One, no longer alone.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt you were not walking through something alone?
