The Priceless Diamond

In plain words

I have become a trader in the Name of the One.

And a diamond beyond any price has landed right in my hands — next to it, all the world's usual prizes just quietly fell away.

When you truly hold the priceless thing, the price tags on everything else fade.
The deeper layer

Once you hold the real treasure, lesser wants fall away.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad. Har kay naam kay bi-aapaaree: I am a trader in the Name of the One.

Heeraa haath charhi-aa nirmolak: a priceless diamond has come into my hands. That diamond is the Naam, the Name, worth more than anything. Chhoot ga-ee sansaaree means I have left the world behind. This is not turning away from life. It is lesser wants falling away on their own.

Think of finding a real gold coin in your pocket. Suddenly the plastic play money feels like nothing. When the priceless thing is yours, the price tags on everything else fade.

A Question to Sit With

What is something so valuable to you that other things seem small beside it?
