Sikhism·Raag Kaydaaraa·Shabad 20
Verse 3 of 5

Loaded With Truth

When the True Lord attached me, then I was attached to Truth. I am a trader of the True Lord.
I have loaded the commodity of Truth; It has reached the Lord, the Treasurer. ||2||

In plain words

The True One joined me to truth in the first place. Once joined, I became a trader in what is real and lasting.

I have loaded my life with the goods of Truth. They have arrived safely home, received by the One who keeps every treasure.

Live loaded with what is real, and it always reaches home.
The deeper layer

The One pulls us toward truth first, and then we answer.

Sach means truth in the deepest sense: what is real, genuine and lasting. Saachay laa-ay ta-o sach laagay: when the True One joined me, then I was joined to truth. Grace makes the first move, and the heart responds.

Think of a friend who holds out a hand to pull you onto the bus. You still step up, but they reached first.

Kabir fills his packs with saachee basat, the goods of truth. They reach the bhandaaree, the Treasurer. That is the One who receives and safely keeps whatever is truly real. A life loaded with what is real always reaches home.

A Question to Sit With

What is something true and real you want your life to carry?
