Once you step inside the One's shelter, where would grief even find a place to sit?
This verse asks a question that answers itself: once you are in the One's shelter, how could grief stay?
Saran aavai paarbarahm kee taa fir kaahay jhooray — whoever comes into the shelter of the paarbarahm, the Supreme One, why would they grieve anymore? The saran is the One's shelter, a safe place to stand. The verse points out that grief and that shelter cannot fill the same space.
This does not mean hard things never happen, or that it is wrong to feel sad. It is about where the heart is standing. Think of a thunderstorm while you are safe indoors, wrapped in a blanket. The storm is real. But you are held somewhere it cannot reach. The question is left open on purpose — "why grieve?" — so we can notice that, in that shelter, grief finds no place to sit.
Is there a 'shelter' you can step into when grief is heavy — and what does standing there feel like?
