Sikhism·Raag Maale Gaorhaa·Raag Maale-Gaorhaa, Shabad 11
Verse 3 of 5

No One Leaves Empty-Handed

jaa kai ghar saglay samaahi.
Everything is contained in His home.
jis tay birthaa ko-ay naahi.
No one is turned away empty-handed.
jee-a jantar karay partipaal.
He cherishes all beings and creatures.
sadaa sadaa sayvhu kirpaal. ||2||
Forever and ever, serve the Merciful Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Everything there is rests in the One's home.

No one is ever sent away with empty hands. The One cares for every living being — so serve the kind One, always.

The generous One sends no one away empty-handed.
The deeper layer

Sabh kichh ghar mahi — everything is in the One's house — and koi na rahai bhukaataa, no one is turned away empty. This is the raag's generosity theme: a Giver who cherishes sabh jia (all beings) without exception. Service flows naturally from gratitude.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone made sure you didn't leave empty-handed?
