A Gift Given, Not Earned

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥

I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

Joining them, I am saved.

God has blessed Nanak with this gift. ||4||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I'd give anything for the company of good souls.

Joining them, I'm carried through. My mind and body are tuned to the Name — and the One gave Nanak this as a gift.

The good in your life is a gift given freely — meet it with open hands.
The deeper layer

The close: saadh sangat again, and being ubarai (lifted). Body and mind raataa (attuned) to the Name. And crucially — deenaa, "has given" — it is a gift, not a wage. Grace, received.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing came into your life that you didn't earn?
