In plain words

You've always come to the rescue — You reached down and saved the elephant when it was caught and helpless.

And when a woman was in danger and afraid, You protected her and kept her dignity safe.

The One steps in to protect those who are helpless or in danger.
The deeper layer

This one tells two old rescue stories to show that the One protects the helpless.

The first is about the gaj hastee, the elephant. In the old story, a crocodile grabbed an elephant's leg in a lake. The elephant called out, and help came. The verse pictures the One holding the chakra, a spinning disc, and coming down from heaven to save it.

The second story is about Dropati, also called Draupadi. In the court of Duhsaasan, cruel men tried to shame her in front of everyone. The One guarded her dignity and kept her safe.

Both stories carry the same point. The One protects people who are in danger and cannot protect themselves, and guards their dignity.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone stepped in to protect you or your dignity?
