You Welcome Everyone, Even the One the World Turned Away
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You've lifted and carried across so many, so many — more than anyone could count.
And now someone the world called low and pushed aside has come to Your door too, and is welcomed.
This one says the door of the One is open to everyone, even those the world pushes aside.
Gotam naar ahli-aa taaree — You saved Ahliyaa, the wife of the sage Gautam. Paavan kaytak taaree-alay — how many have You made pure and carried across?
Then Namdev speaks of himself. He was born into a group that society ranked low and called outcaste, ajaat. He says that such a one has now come to Your shelter.
The one the world ranked lowest is welcomed exactly like everyone else. Think of a lunch table where one kid always sits alone. Then a friend says, "Come sit with us." There is room at the table for everyone.
So Namdev's words about himself are not shame. They show how wide the One's welcome is. Every person's dignity goes deeper than any ranking the world makes.
Who might feel left out that you could welcome in?
