In plain words

Even in a hard and noisy age, those meant to find the perfect teacher find them.

Servant Nanak drinks the sweet nectar, and every hunger and thirst is finally settled.

The deepest hunger is settled not by more, but by drinking what truly nourishes.
The deeper layer

This one ends the set with a picture of deep contentment.

Kaljug gur pooraa tin paa-i-aa — even in Kaljug, the hard and noisy age, they find the Perfect Guru. A difficult time cannot block the way. What is written for them still leads them there.

Then Nanak drinks amrit, the sweet nectar. Sabh laathee bhookh tikhaat — all hunger and thirst are gone.

Think of coming home hungry after a long day and sitting down to a warm meal. You eat, and you feel full and settled all the way through. Nothing else pulls at you.

This closes the set of six shabads by Guru Ram Das in this raag.

A Question to Sit With

What is a 'hunger' in you that stuff can't fill?
