Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 1
Verse 6 of 6

Even the Far-Apart Can Be Brought Home Again

ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲਾਵੜਾ ਇਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਭੋਗ ॥
sanjogee maylaavarhaa in tan keetay bhog.
By good destiny, this union comes about; this body enjoys its pleasures.
ਵਿਜੋਗੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੀ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੪॥੧॥
vijogee mil vichhurhay naanak bhee sanjog. ||4||1||
Those who have lost their destiny, suffer separation from this union. O Nanak, they may still be united once again! ||4||1||

In plain words

When things come together in a good way, the body gets to enjoy its life and its gifts.

Nanak says: even those who feel far from that closeness are never shut out for good.

The door stays open; the far-apart can always be brought home again.

No distance is final; the way home stays open.
The deeper layer

Sanjog (union) and vijog (separation) are the two movements of a life. Bhee sanjog: reunion is always possible. In the mortality-raag Maaroo, this is deliberate comfort. No one is ever finally lost, and the way back is never sealed.

A Question to Sit With

When has something you thought was lost come back to you?
