The Home of the Fearless One

Without the Truth, the terrifying world-ocean cannot be crossed.

This ocean is vast and unfathomable; it is overflowing with the worst poison.

rahai ateet gurmat lay oopar har nirbha-o kai ghar paa-i-aa. ||6||
One who receives the Guru's Teachings, and remains aloof and detached, obtains a place in the home of the Fearless Lord. ||6||

In plain words

Without truth, the great waters cannot be crossed.

They are wide and deep, and there is much that can pull a heart off course.

But the one who takes the Guru's wisdom and stays gently free finds a home with the Fearless One.

Staying gently free of what pulls you off course leads home to the Fearless One.
The deeper layer

The world-ocean is again the great waters. This ocean is athaahu, bottomless, and full of what can pull a heart off course. The reward is a home with the Fearless One (nirbha-o).

A Question to Sit With

What pulls you off course, and what helps you steer back?
