Practicing hypocrisy, Yoga is not obtained; without the True Guru, the unseen Lord is not found. ||12||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Some rub their bodies with dust and ashes,
yet inside them the anger and pride they never faced still rule like unwelcome guests.
Putting on a show does not bring union; without the Guru, the unseen One is not found.
A holy-looking outside means little if anger still rules inside.
Outward display without inner change falls short. The chandaal, the outcasts, are anger and pride: intruders inside the heart. Union is inward.
A Question to Sit With
How do you tend to what's inside, not just how things look?
