Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 104
Verse 11 of 16

True Words That Do Not Wash Away

sachaa sabad sachee hai banee.
True is the Word of the Shabad, and True is the Bani of His Word.
gurmukh virlai kinai pachhaanee.
How rare is that Gurmukh who realizes this.
sachay sabad ratay bairaagee aavan jaan rahaa-ee hay. ||11||
Those who are imbued with the True Shabad are detached. Their comings and goings in reincarnation are ended. ||11||

In plain words

The Word is true, and the sacred words that carry it are true.

Rare is the one who turns to the Guru and tastes how true they are.

Soaked in that truth, the heart grows steady and free, and its long restless wandering comes home to rest.

The True Word holds; a heart soaked in it stops wandering.
The deeper layer

Sachaa (true) means lasting, unlike the false shine that washes off like cheap dye. A heart soaked in the true Word stops its restless wandering and comes home.

A Question to Sit With

What is something in your life that feels completely real and lasting?
