Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 105
Verse 8 of 16

Seeing the One With Open Eyes

kaa-i-aa kutamb moh na boojhai.
One who is attached to his body and family, does not understand.
gurmukh hovai ta aakhee soojhai.
But one who becomes Gurmukh, sees the Lord with his eyes.
an-din naam ravai din raatee mil pareetam sukh ho-ee hay. ||8||
Night and day, he chants the Naam, day and night; meeting with his Beloved, he finds peace. ||8||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A heart clinging only to the body and to who is mine cannot quite see.

But the one who turns to the Guru sees the One with open eyes.

Keeping the Name close through day and night, they meet the Beloved and find peace.

Loosen the grip on only mine, and the One comes into view.
The deeper layer

Attachment to body and family clouds the sight; the Gurmukh sees the One directly. Naam ravai (keeping the Name in mind) is what keeps the eyes open.

A Question to Sit With

When do you feel like you are seeing the world clearly?
