Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
jagjeevan saachaa ayko daataa.
One One True Lord is the Life of the World, the Great Giver.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
gur sayvaa tay sabad pachhaataa.
Serving the Guru, through the Word of the Shabad, He is realized.
ਏਕੋ ਅਮਰੁ ਏਕਾ ਪਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
ayko amar aykaa patisaahee jug jug sir kaar banaa-ee hay. ||1||
There is only One Command, and there is only One Supreme King. In each and every age, He links each to their tasks. ||1||

One true One, the very life of the world, the Great Giver of all.
Serve the Guru, and through the Word you come to know that One.
There is one flow, one great One over all, and in every age it sets each of us to our own work.
The same One runs through every age, giving each of us our part.
Across every age (yuga) there is one Giver and one flow (Hukam). And that One sets each of us our own task, our own part to play.
