ਮਾਇਆ ਲਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
maa-i-aa lahar sabad nivaaree.
The Word of the Shabad has subdued the waves of Maya.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
ih man nirmal ha-umai maaree.
Egotism has been conquered, and this mind has become immaculate.
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
sehjay gun gaavai rang raataa rasnaa raam raveejai hay. ||3||
I intuitively sing His Glorious Praises, imbued with the Lord's Love. My tongue chants and savors the Lord's Name. ||3||

The living Word calms the restless waves of wanting inside.
The proud me grows quiet, and the mind turns clear and bright.
With an easy joy I sing in wonder, and every word tastes of the Name.
The Word calms the inner waves until the mind turns clear.
The waves (lehar) of Maya are calmed by the Word. As haumai quiets, the mind clears and a natural joy (sahaj) sings out.
