ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
antar lobh karai nahee boojhai.
He practices greed within, and does not understand.
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
sir oopar jamkaal na soojhai.
He does not see the Messenger of Death hovering over his head.
ਐਥੈ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਆਇਆ ਅੰਤਕਾਲਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
aithai kamaanaa so agai aa-i-aa antkaal ki-aa keejai hay. ||5||
Whatever one does in this world, will come to face him in the hereafter; what can he do at that very last moment? ||5||

Greed can quietly take over without our even noticing.
It is easy to forget how short and precious our time is.
What we do now stays with us and travels on; so it is kind to ourselves to choose well while we can.
What we do today travels with us; choosing kindly is a gift to our future self.
Aithai kamaanaa so agai aa-i-aa: what we do here goes on ahead with us. Choosing kindly now is a gift to our future self.
