The Guru holds me safe at both ends, the start of the road and the finish.
When my heart rests steadily on the One, doubt quiets down.
The living Word settles inside me, and serving with love, day and night, keeps it there.
Dovai siray satguroo nibayrhay means the True Guru takes care of both ends. One end is this life. The other is the journey after it. That is a gentle comfort in Raag Maaroo, a mood often sung about life and its end. Think of a friend who walks you to school and is waiting at the gate when school is over.
Bharam means doubt. Doubt ends when the shabad, the Guru's word, lives inside us. It stays alive through loving service, day and night.
Feeling safe comes from within. It does not come from being sure how everything will turn out.
