Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 111
Verse 3 of 16

Steady While the World Turns

aavaa ga-on hai sansaaraa.
The world is coming and going in reincarnation.
maa-i-aa moh baho chitai bikaaraa.
Attached to Maya, it dwells on its many sins.
thir saachaa saalaahee sad hee jin gur kaa sabad pachhaataa hay. ||3||
One who realizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad, praises forever the eternal, unchanging True Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The world keeps turning, coming and going, always in motion.

When we cling only to passing things, our thoughts spin with worry.

But the one who knows the Guru's Word finds something steady that never changes, and rests there in praise.

Something steady is available even while everything changes.
The deeper layer

Aavaa ga-on — the ceaseless coming and going of the world. The remedy is thir saachaa, the steady and true, realized by one who grasps the gur kaa sabad. Baho chitai bikaaraa: a mind clinging to Maya keeps turning over its many wrongs.

A Question to Sit With

What is something in your life that stays steady no matter what?
