ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
jaa tuDh bhaanaa taa sachee kaarai laa-ay.

ਅਵਗਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
avgan chhod gun maahi samaa-ay.
Renouncing vice, I am immersed in virtue.
ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
gun meh ayko nirmal saachaa gur kai sabad pachhaataa hay. ||6||
The One Immaculate True Lord abides in virtue; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is realized. ||6||

When it is time, You set me to work that is real and true.
Letting go of what harms, I sink into what is good.
The pure One lives right there in goodness, and through the Guru's Word I come to know it.
Goodness is a place to dwell, not just a list of rules.
Avgan chhod gun maahi samaa-ay — leaving faults, one merges into virtue. Virtue is not a checklist but a place to dwell; the nirmal saachaa (the pure and true) is found inside gun, goodness itself. Realization comes gur kai sabad, through the Word.
