man tan mailaa vich jot apaaraa.
Within the polluted mind and body is the Light of the Infinite Lord.
gurmat boojhai kar veechaaraa.
One who understands the Guru's Teachings, contemplates this.
ha-umai maar sadaa man nirmal rasnaa sayv sukh-daata hay. ||12||
Conquering egotism, the mind becomes immaculate forever; with his tongue, he serves the Lord, the Giver of peace. ||12||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Even in a mind that feels clouded and tired, an endless Light is shining.
The one who takes the Guru's teaching to heart looks for it and finds it.
As the loud self quiets, the mind grows clear and bright, and the tongue delights in the Giver of peace.
Even a cloudy mind still has a light shining inside it.
Man tan mailaa vich jot apaaraa — even within a soiled mind and body burns the infinite Light. No one is too clouded for the Light within. Quieting haumai (haumai maar) clears the view.
