ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis no nadar karay so gun niDh paa-ay.
One who is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace, obtains the Lord, the treasure of virtue.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥
ha-umai mayraa thaak rahaa-ay.
Egotism and possessiveness are brought to an end.
ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
gun avgan kaa ayko daataa gurmukh virlee jaataa hay. ||10||
The One Lord is the only Giver of virtue and vice, merits and demerits; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this. ||10||

The grip of me and mine quietly comes to an end.
Behind all our strengths and our stumbles stands a single Giver — rare is the heart that turns to the Guru and understands this.
One Giver stands behind both your gifts and your stumbles.
Gun avgan kaa ayko daataa — the One is the single source of both merits and demerits. This dissolves the harsh sorting of people into good and bad: all of it flows from one Giver. Haumai and mayraa are thaak rahaa-ay, brought to a gentle stop.
