Verse 3 of 16

At Peace With Everyone

kirpaa karay taa mayl milaa-ay.
When the Lord bestows His Mercy, He unites in His Union.
ha-umai mamtaa sabad jalaa-ay.
Egotism and attachment are burned away by the Shabad.
sadaa mukat rahai ik rangee naahee kisai naal kaahaa hay. ||3||
In the Love of the One Lord, one remains liberated forever; he is not in conflict with anyone. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When mercy draws you close, it joins you to the One.

The Word gently melts away the tight knot of me and mine.

Free and glad in the love of the One, you find yourself at odds with no one at all.

Melt the knot of me-and-mine and quarrels lose their fuel.
The deeper layer

Naahee kisai naal kaahaa — no quarrel with anyone. When haumai and mamtaa (possessive attachment) are melted by the Word, conflict loses its fuel. Freedom in the One shows up as peace with people.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing that helps you stop fighting with someone?
