The Word That Is Nectar Day and Night

gur kaa sabad amrit hai banee.
The Guru's Shabad is the Ambrosial Bani.
an-din har kaa naam vakhaanee.
Night and day, chant the Name of the Lord.
har har sachaa vasai ghat antar so ghat nirmal taahaa hay. ||10||
That heart becomes immaculate, which is filled with the True Lord, Har, Har. ||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Guru's Word is like sweet nectar to a listening heart.

Keep the Name near, morning and night, and the heart grows clear and clean, filled to the brim with the True One.

A heart that keeps the Name grows clear and full.
The deeper layer

The Bani is amrit; continual remembrance purifies the heart. So ghat nirmal — the heart where the True One lives grows clear and clean.

A Question to Sit With

What is a word or thought that makes your heart feel clear?
