Verse 4 of 16

Coming and Going Rest in His Hand

aavan jaanaa rakhai na ko-ee.
No one can save them from coming and going.
jaman maran tisai tay ho-ee.
Birth and death come from Him.
gurmukh saachaa sadaa Dhi-aavahu gat mukat tisai tay paahaa hay. ||4||
The Gurmukh meditates forever on the True Lord. Emancipation and liberation are obtained from Him. ||4||

In plain words

Beginnings and endings are woven into every life, and no one steps outside that flow.

Yet the heart that stays close to the One rests easy inside it, held by the very One from whom all of it comes.

Beginnings and endings belong to the One who holds you through them.
The deeper layer

Birth and death are framed as the natural flow, held by the divine. Freedom here is resting in the One, not escaping fear.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel calm about things you cannot control?
