Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 126
Verse 5 of 16

More Than Words Can Hold

tayray gun kahaa mai kahan na jaa-ee.
What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I describe? I cannot describe them.
ant na paaraa keemat nahee paa-ee.
You have no end or limitation. Your value cannot be estimated.
aapay da-i-aa karay sukh-daata gun meh gunee samaa-i-aa. ||5||
When the Giver of peace Himself bestows His Mercy, the virtuous are absorbed in virtue. ||5||

In plain words

How could I ever list all Your wonders? There are too many; I cannot. You have no edge, no end, and no price could ever be put on You.

When the peace-giver pours out kindness, good grows in the good-hearted like a river feeding the sea.

The One is more than any words can hold, and that is part of the wonder.
The deeper layer

The inexpressibility of the One (kahan na jaa-ee) is a recurring Gurbani note: the more one sees, the less one can say. Grace absorbs the virtuous in virtue — goodness feeding goodness, a river to the sea.

A Question to Sit With

When has something been so wonderful that words felt too small for it?
