Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 129
Verse 12 of 16

What Words Could Ever Be Enough

ha-o ki-aa gun tayray aakhaa su-aamee.
What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I chant, O my Lord and Master?
too sarab jee-aa kaa antarjaamee.
You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all souls.
ha-o maaga-o daan tujhai peh kartay har an-din naam vakhaanee hay. ||12||
I beg for blessings from You, O Creator Lord; I repeat Your Name night and day. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

How could I ever list everything wonderful about You, my Master? You know every heart from the inside.

Maker, I ask You for Your gift. Night and day, I say Your Naam.

Some wonders are too big to list — so you just keep their name close.
The deeper layer

antarjaamee is the inner-knower, the searcher of all hearts. ha-o kiaa gun aakhaa — what virtues could I even name? — is the wonder that is too big for words. The single request is simran: to keep the Name close night and day.

A Question to Sit With

What is something so good you cannot find enough words for it?
