Verse 13 of 16

My Only Support

kis hee jor ahaNkaar bolan kaa.
Some speak in egotistical power.
kis hee jor deebaan maa-i-aa kaa.
Some have the power of authority and Maya.
mai har bin tayk Dhar avar na kaa-ee too kartay raakh mai nimaanee hay. ||13||
I have no other Support at all, except the Lord. O Creator Lord, please save me, meek and dishonored. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Some people lean on being loud and proud, some on power or money.

I have no other support at all, only the One. Creator, keep me safe — I have no honor of my own.

You do not need to be loud or powerful to be held by the One.
The deeper layer

Some lean on ahankaar (loud pride), some on maa-i-aa (power and wealth); one who has only the One as tayk (support) leans on nothing else. Nimaanee — without honor, small — is an honest word about standing before the Creator with nothing to show.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you turn when you feel small?
