Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 129
Verse 14 of 16

Lifting the Overlooked

nimaanay maan karahi tuDh bhaavai.
You bless the meek and dishonored with honor, as it pleases You, O Lord.
hor kaytee jhakh jhakh aavai jaavai.
Many others argue in conflict, coming and going in reincarnation.
jin kaa pakh karahi too su-aamee tin kee oopar gal tuDh aanee hay. ||14||
Those people, whose side You take, O Lord and Master, are elevated and successful. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When it pleases You, You give honor to those who have none.

Many others quarrel and quarrel, and keep coming and going. Those whose side You take, my Master, are raised up high.

The One lifts up exactly the ones the world overlooks.
The deeper layer

Nimaanay maan karahi — You give honor to the honorless, as it pleases You. Others spend themselves in jhakh jhakh, endless quarreling, and keep coming and going. Those whose side the One takes are lifted up.

A Question to Sit With

Who around you gets overlooked, and how could you help them feel seen?
