bhanat naanak laykhaa maagai kavnaa jaa chookaa man abhimaanaa.
Prays Nanak, who can call him to account, when the egotistical pride of his mind has been silenced?
taas taas Dharam raa-ay japat hai pa-ay sachay kee sarnaa. ||5||1||
Even the Righteous Judge of Dharma is intimidated and afraid of him; he has entered the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||5||1||

Nanak says: when the proud, grasping voice inside grows quiet, there is nothing left to be accused of.
Even the strictest measuring-stick finds nothing to weigh against such a heart.
Resting in the shelter of the True One, that heart is simply free.
When pride goes quiet, there is nothing left in you to accuse.
Dharam Raay, the judge of what is right, finds nothing to hold against a heart cleansed of abhimaan (proud ego), and even stands in awe of it. Once haumai is silenced, accounting itself becomes empty. Sanctuary (sarnaa) in the True One is the ground of that freedom. The image of judgment is turned toward release, not dread.
