Coming Home to the Self Within

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Coming and going in reincarnation no longer exist, when one dwells in the home of the self within.
ਸਚੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
sach khajaanaa bakhsi-aa aapay jaanai so-ay. ||1||
He bestowed the Blessing of His treasure of truth; only He Himself knows. ||1||

In plain words

The restless coming-and-going quiets when I finally settle into my own true home inside.

A treasure of truth is placed there as a gift, more than my mind can grasp.

The end of restlessness is coming home to the stillness already inside you.
The deeper layer

The restless running around stops when we come home to ourselves.

Aavan jaanaa means coming and going, the endless in-and-out of life after life. It ends with nij ghar vaasaa, living in your own true home. That home is inside you. It is a quiet, settled place where the soul stops wandering. You reach it by coming home, not by going anywhere.

Think of coming in from a long, cold day. You kick off your shoes, and you are home. There, the One gives a gift: sach khajaanaa, a treasure of truth. It is bakhsi-aa, given freely as grace. Raag Maaroo often sings of endings, and this verse brings comfort: home is already inside you.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel at home inside yourself?
