Verse 6 of 16

In the Shelter, No Fear

parabh aa-ay sarnaa bha-o nahee karnaa.
I have come to God's Sanctuary, and so I fear nothing.
saaDhsangat nihcha-o hai tarnaa.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am sure to be saved.
man bach karam araaDhay kartaa tis naahee kaday sajaa-ee hay. ||6||
One who adores the Creator in thought, word and deed, shall never be punished. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have stepped into the shelter, so I have set my fear down.

In the Sangat, I know for sure I will make it across. And the one who loves the Creator in thought, word, and action is never punished.

Step into the shelter and you can set your fear down.
The deeper layer

prabh aa-ay sarnaa, bha-o nahee karnaa — in the sanctuary, fear is set down. man bach karam — in thought, word and deed — the one who loves the Creator is never punished.

saadhsangat is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Crossing over there is nihcha-o, certain.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a shelter — a place or people — that lets you set fear down?
